Respite care offers primary caregivers a break from their caregiving responsibilities. A professional caregiver will take over for you while you recharge, run errands, or enjoy time with friends and family. Respite care can be scheduled for a few hours twice a week, for a full week or any timeframe that suits you.
In-home respite care can be short-term or long-term relief for you as a caregiver. Here’s how we can work together:

If you are a caregiver for a senior or elderly person in your life, respite care can provide you both with much-needed support. At HomeCare Evernest, we specialize in working with seniors, including those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
If you care for someone with autism, you may worry about someone else stepping in for respite care. Our goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible trusting our compassionate and experienced healthcare aides to build a strong relationship with the person in your care.
Children and adults with disabilities can benefit from respite care. As a caregiver of someone with a disability, you deserve time and space to find balance in your life, and the person in care deserves consistent support.
Our Health Care Aides provide compassionate home care to clients with chronic illnesses such as MS, cancer, or Parkinson’s. We’ll work with you to create a custom respite care plan that will allow you to enjoy restful time away from your caregiving responsibilities.
No matter the reason that you are in a caregiving role, we can help by being a trusted companion to the person who needs care. We can step in when you need to step out and run errands, enjoy some friend time, or whatever you need to do to recharge. Our Registered Nurse Care Managers will work with you to match you with a respite Health Care Aide that you trust.

Just like all of us, family caregivers deserve time to themselves. Unlike all of us, family caregivers are often carrying the emotional and physical role of caregiving all hours of the day. Respite care involves bringing in a professional health care aide to fulfill that role while the caregiver gets time to themselves to rest, tend to other areas of their life, and find balance.
Respite care can be powerful for both the caregiver and the person in their care, as it can vastly improve their relationship. When caregivers are feeling cared for and balanced themselves, they can be a more positive influence in the life of the person they care for.
There is one thing that might appear at first to be a disadvantage of respite care: dealing with caregiver guilt.
Some caregivers may experience guilt when choosing respite care as they are so committed to their job of caring. Unlike traditional paying jobs, being a family caregiver is loaded with the expectation that you should never need time off. There can be a lot of internalized guilt and shame for caregivers who are craving time to themselves.
However, we find that caregivers can quickly move past that guilt when they see the positive relationships that our Health Care Aides build with the person who needs care.
All HomeCare Evernest caregivers are carefully screened, background checked, and trained to provide high-quality care that meets our clients' unique needs.
